Kids Rule! Netflix Dominates with Family and Children's Content

Netflix has struck gold with family content, and for good reason. According to the recent semi-annual report “What We Watched: A Netflix Engagement Report,” children’s and family entertainment accounts for an astounding 15% of all views on the platform globally. Let’s dive into this magical world and discover which titles are making waves!

CoComelon: The Undisputed King

From London, Moonbug Entertainment has achieved resounding success with CoComelon, which crowned itself as the most-watched children’s series on Netflix in the second half of 2023. With nearly 200 million views across its eight seasons, CoComelon has become a children’s phenomenon. Just its eighth season alone garnered 37.6 million views, ranking as the eighth most-watched show overall on the platform.

Other Children’s Hits

But CoComelon isn’t alone at the top. The third season of Little Angel, also by Moonbug, attracted 23.1 million viewers, while the eighth season of Gabby’s Dollhouse by DreamWorks reached 21.4 million views. Additionally, the first season of Bebefinn by The Pinkfong Company, the sixth season of Peppa Pig by Hasbro, and Spin Master shows like Unicorn Academy: Chapter 1 and the sixth season of PAW Patrol also stood out with millions of views.

Family Movies on Top

Movies haven’t lagged behind either. Family Switch by Grey Matter Productions was the most-watched children’s movie, with 61.9 million views. It was closely followed by The Boss Baby by DreamWorks and PAW Patrol: The Movie by Spin Master, with 61.7 and 59 million views respectively. Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch by Illumination and The Super Mario Bros. Movie by Illumination and Universal Pictures also shone, with 45.3 and 44.9 million views.

The Rise of Sports

Although not children’s content, sports have gained ground on Netflix, accumulating 184 million views thanks to documentaries like Beckham and Untold: Johnny Football. This growth demonstrates that streaming sports events is capturing the attention of a broad audience on the platform.

A Bright Future

Netflix’s success with family content not only highlights its ability to attract a young audience but also its skill in creating an environment where families can enjoy together. With titles that capture the imagination and hearts of the little ones, Netflix continues to cement itself as the ultimate destination for home entertainment.

So next time you’re looking for something to watch with your kids, nieces, or younger siblings, Netflix has something for everyone!
